Buttermilk Chocolate Bread

Adapted from Taste of Home Magazine

  • 1 1/2 cups unbleached flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder, sifted
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1 cup low-fat buttermilk
  • 2 whole eggs
  • 3 tbsps olive oil
Buttermilk Chocolate Bread
Preheat oven to 350. Prepare a 9"x5" loaf pan with cooking spray; set aside.In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, salt, baking soda, baking powder, and walnuts. Mix well. Add buttermilk, eggs, and oil. Mix until all is moistened. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for one hour or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
