Slow Cooked Chicken Cacciatore

Adapted from Favorite Casseroles

  • 9 whole chicken breast halves skinless
  • 15 ozs Italian style tomato sauce
  • 15 ozs tomato sauce
  • 8 ozs canned mushrooms, rinsed and drained
  • 1 tbsp pizza seasoning
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup onions, chopped
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 tbsps unbleached flour
  • 16 ozs angel hair spaghetti, cooked
Slow Cooked Chicken Cacciatore
In a 5-quart slow cooker, combine chicken breasts, tomato sauce, mushrooms, pizza seasoning, and onions. Mix well. Cover and cook on low for six hours, or until chicken breasts are done. Remove chicken from slow cooker using a slotted spoon; keep warm. In a small bowl, combine water and flour. Mix until smooth. Stir into remaining liquid in cooker. Increase setting to high. Cover and cook for 15 minutes, or until thickened. Spoon mixture over chicken and vegetables. Serve with cooked spaghetti.
