Chewy Honey Apple Fig Bars

Adapted from Bake Something Great

  • 1 cup unbleached flour
  • 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
  • 2 tsps pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 tsps lemon peel, grated
  • 16 ozs dried figs, chopped fine
  • 1/4 cup walnuts, chopped
Chewy Honey Apple Fig Bars
Preheat oven to 350. Prepare a 13"x9" pan with cooking spray; set aside. In a mixing bowl, combine flours, pumpkin pie spice, and baking soda. Mix well. Add egg, honey, applesauce, lemon peel, figs, and walnuts. Mix until all is moistened. Spread batter evenly into prepared pan. Bake for 20 minutes, or until top is lightly browned.
