Applesauce Nut Bars

Adapted from

  • 1 whole egg
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup oilive oil
  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 1/2 cup unbleached flour
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 1/2 tsps baking soda
  • 2 tsps cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp cloves
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup pecans, chopped
Applesauce Nut Bars
Preheat oven to 350. Prepare a jelly roll pan with cooking spray; set aside. In a mixing bowl, combine egg, brown sugar, oil, and applesauce. Mix until combined. Add flours, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, salt, and pecans. Spread batter evenly into prepared pan. Bake for 20 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
