Apple Walnut Crisp

Adapted from Nabisco, Inc.

  • 6 cups Granny Smith apples
  • 2/3 cup unbleached flour
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tsps cinnamon
  • 1 tsp apple pie spice
  • 4 tbsps margarine
  • 3 tbsps walnuts, chopped
Preheat oven to 375. Prepare a 8" square pan with cooking spray and flour. Arrange apples in prepared pan; set aside. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and apple pie spice. Cut in margarine with a pastry blender until crumbly. Stir in walnuts. Sprinkle mixture evenly over apples. Bake for 30 minutes, or until apples are tender and topping is crisp.
