Apple Cobbler

Adapted from

  • 2 lbs Granny Smith apples, chopped and peeled
  • 2 cups unbleached flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 tsps baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 tbsps margarine, cubed
  • 1 cup fat-free mik
  • Topping
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 c water, boiling
Apple Cobbler
Preheat oven to 350. Prepare a 9"x13" pan with cooking spray. Place apples evenly onto bottom of pan; set aside. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, one cup sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well. Cut in margarine with a pastry cutter until crumbly. Add milk. Spoon over apples in pan. In a smaller bowl, combine remaining sugar and cornstarch. Sprinkle evenly over batter. Pour boiling water evenly over top. Bake for one hour or until top is browned.
