Toffee Fudge Bars

Adapted from
25 servings

1 1/2 c unbleached flour  1/4 tsp baking soda 
1 c granulated sugar  1/8 tsp salt 
1/2 c cocoa powder, sifted  4 tbsps light margarine, softened 
3 tbsps walnuts, chopped  2 tsps pure vanilla extract 
3 ozs toffee bits, coarsely crushed  1 whole egg 
1/4 tsp baking powder  3 ozs toffee bits, coarsely crushed 
Preheat oven to 350. Prepare a 9" square span with cooking spray; set aside. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, walnuts, three ounces toffee bits, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well. Add margarine, vanilla extract, and egg. Mix until all is crumbly. Press into prepared pan. Sprinkle top with remaining toffee bits. Bake for 20 minutes, or until center is set.
