Slow Cooked Chicken Cacciatore

Adapted from Favorite Casseroles

  • 2 lbs chicken breast halves skinless
  • 30 ozs Italian style tomato sauce
  • 8 ozs canned mushrooms, rinsed and drained
  • 4 tsps pizza seasoning
  • 1 cup onions, chopped
  • 1 cup bell peppers, chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 tbsps unbleached flour
  • 12 ozs angel hair spaghetti, cooked
In a 5-quart slow cooker, combine chicken breasts, tomato sauce, mushrooms, pizza seasoning, onions, bell peppers, and garlic powder. Mix well. Cover and cook on low for eight hours, or until chicken breasts are done. Remove chicken and vegetables from slow cooker using a slotted spoon; keep warm. In a small bowl, combine water and flour. Mix until smooth. Stir into remaining liquid in cooker. Increase setting to high. Cover and cook for ten minutes, or until thickened. Spoon mixture over chicken and vegetables. Serve with cooked spaghetti.
