Apple Crisp

Adapted from Le Barbocce, Inc.

  • 3 lbs Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced thin
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tbsps margarine, softened
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp apple pie spice
  • Topping:
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp cinnamon, divided
  • 1 tsp apple pie spice, divided
  • 3 ozs lowfat granola, broken into pieces
  • 1/2 cup unbleached flour
  • 3 tbsps margarine, divided
Apple Crisp
Preheat oven to 375. Prepare a 10" deep dish pie pan with cooking spray; set aside. In a mixing bowl, combine apples, 3/4 cup brown sugar, two tablespoons margarine, half teaspoon cinnamon, and half teaspoon apple pie spice. Mix well. Spread mixture into prepared pan; set aside. Meanwhile, to prepare topping, combine remaining brown sugar, remaining cinnamon, remaining apple pie spice, granola, flour, and remaining margarine. Mix until crumbly. Sprinkle over apple mixture - do not press down on apples. Bake for one hour, or until apples are tender.
